After watching the CNET video today, choose ONE of the stories (Birds take down drones, or Underground cargo) and write about the following:
1. Summarize what was presented.
2. Do you think that the topic that you chose to write about is realistic. Is this something that you think will definitely happen in the future? Why or why not?

ReplyDelete1. The beginning of the video has to do with Dutch police working with eagles to police drones. Second, the concept of underground cargo carrying is presented in the video as a more effective way to transport cargo. Third, they show cell phone photography.
ReplyDelete2. Birds and Drones: No; Because it will eventually be deemed as inhumane and they will be forced to find an alternative.
In the eagle attack on drones is a interesting way to solve illegal no fly zones. They send a trained eagle after a drone. As the eagle catches it, it will guard it till it's trainer shows up. This seems like it may be used to do this, however some people may want an technological way to do it. This is simply due to the danger to the animal's safety. But this doesn't mean it can't happen.
ReplyDeleteWhat was presented was, the idea of eagles taking down drowns. And in my opinion I do not think that this idea is realistic. Because it doesn't really make sense to me the whole concept of that idea. Why not just find something us to take them down? It just doesn't make sense to me.
ReplyDeleteThe Dutch are having problems with drones, mainly that they aren't flying where they're supposed to. They've come up with a unique solution for this problem: they've trained eagles and other birds of prey to snatch the drones out of the sky, like the predators they are. I think this is a feasible (and ridiculous) solution. Eagles/falcons/hawks are natural air predators, and this is simply training them to take down a new kind of prey. The downside is that you will need to train a large amount of these birds to keep up with the steady increase in drone usage worldwide.
ReplyDeleteIn the presentation there were eagles that were trained to take down drones. The eagles take the drone with their feet and take it somewhere and guard it. Also they are taking extra precautions to make sure that the wings of the drone don't harm the eagles. I don't think that this will happen in the future because I do not think drones will ever be that big of a problem that we will need eagles to take them down. It would be very hard to train multiple eagles to take down drones.
ReplyDeletePolice are training birds to take down drones out of the sky. This will help them tremendously with taking down drones. When the birds have the drones they hide in a corner with it. Yes, it is realistic because there was footage shown of how its done. I think it will work for a while but eventually using animals will be "problem" in society.
